With no streetlights washing everything out, a well-designed display reads far more dramatically here than it does on a lit suburban street. Warm white in particular looks remarkable against a genuinely dark background.
Lots are large and driveways are long, so we often recommend carrying the design past the house — trees near the drive, lit walkways, an entrance feature — rather than putting everything on the roofline.
